Thanks
Mac for organizing yet another fun cruise.
St Francis YC was as good as it gets. You do such a great job and we all
appreciate it and look forward to the Corinthian cruise in April. We had a
large turnout of boats and drive-in participants. Another nice cocktail party
on the Todt's boat and the dinner at the YC was excellent and enjoyed by almost
forty of us. Some enjoyed shopping at the Fort Mason fair and a few stayed for
an excellent brunch at the YC on Sunday. Linda and I brought our bikes on
Lightwave and the weather was perfect for riding Crissy Field to the GG Bridge.
The scene could have been a SoCal beach! The sand was packed with sunbathers
while the Bay was loaded with beautiful sails...what a sight!
Alas,
we have some good and bad news regarding cruises. After the April Corinthian YC
cruise McKenzie Smith will retire from his Cruise Chair position. That's the bad news. The good news is...Dave
Simonson has agreed to pick up the Cruise Chair for the balance of the year and
Keith Jones will assist him. In anticipation, Mac has made one of the
long-lead-time reservations for our summer Delta trip and the board approved a
check to confirm 8/20-23 at Delta YC. Dave and Keith will plan the rest of the two
weeks, so get your reservations in for the Delta trip and plan to have another
memorable time. Linda and I plan to cruise for the full two weeks this year
and, so far, it looks like at least eight other boats will do the same. We're also set for this year's 4th
of July cruise to Sausalito. So many of us had such a great time last year that
we're gonna do it again. We have the "F" dock at Schoonmaker Point
Marina reserved from 3 to 8 July.
Because the 4th is on a Wed this year we scheduled the 3rd
for those who like to be docked and relaxed for the 4th and stay the
following Th, Fr, Sa and leave on Sunday. More on this from your cruise chair
later.
Our
board continues to review the proposed changes to our By-Laws. James Keller's
committee continues to do a great job of assisting the board with the review.
All are working hard to simplify and improve the language for the good of the
club. As a reminder, the process will
be to submit the recommendations to our attorney and then to our general
membership for discussion and approval. The final step is to submit them to the
state. We will also need to establish another committee to review our Club
Rules to be sure there are no conflicts between them and the By-Laws. We are
looking for volunteers for that committee. Make yourself heard! Remember, the
By-Laws are our policy and the Club Rules are our implementation procedures.
Again,
about our money: After a thorough review, the board approved the audit report
for 2005/2006. The recommendations are straight-forward and are being taken
into consideration. Once again, a job well done by Denise and her team!
The
City continues to pursue bids for the improvements to security and facilities
at our docks. We will monitor and encourage them to get the work done before
the season begins....which is soon.
Saint
Patrick's Day was a great success this weekend. The food was delicious and the entertainment was lots
of fun. San Pablo YC joined us and a fine Irish time was had by all. Thanks to
Keith, Dee and their team for one of the best parties this year.
Big
events coming up are PYC Spring Cleanup 3/31, Opening Day on the River 4/21,
Butter & Eggs Parade 4/28, River Cleanup 5/6. Never a dull moment and we
really appreciate all the great work our volunteers do. You're the heart of our
very successful and attractive club.
Fair
winds and safe cruising,
Tom
