Minutes: Linda
explained that the minutes in the newsletter were complete
however some of the previous minutes were also included. She said you can find
the correct set on our website, petalumayachtclub.com and promised to
broadcast them to the membership as an attachment. In addition, she
clarified two points: The parking lot and roof projects are future
projects and not to be worked on during our upcoming spring-cleaning. She also
stated that a large bouquet of long stemmed red roses were purchased at
the last general meeting so that each woman could be presented one in the name
of St. Valentine.

honor that she introduce Charter Members Al & Shirley Alys as
Honorees of the Butter & Eggs Parade! She thanked them for their
commitment in establishing the club and their continued dedication to the club.
Suzanne also thanked Alta for the article in the newsletter – “Super
Town, Super Heroes”. This year the parade is 4/28. Next parade meeting
is 3/7. Come
join us! Al mentioned he participated in the parade over the years. One time
they used a beautiful old Cris Craft with 2 women on roller skates “skiing”
behind it throwing candy! Come and see the parade, it’s outstanding!
Treasurer Report: No report.
RCO Report: Levi
reported the following:
Building & Grounds: Annual work-party is scheduled for Saturday
3/31, 9A-Noon. A list of chores has been passed around and we have many
volunteers to do most of the work. We still need a volunteer to help
with the mail slot and also some folks to prepare lunch. The 3
large jobs for the exterior are: Dry rot in casing street side back
door at bottom; Gluelams under deck cut, treated and capped and install
an under deck enclosure.
Cruise-ins –Corinthian YC will visit PYC March 24.
VCO Report: Don stated there is a notice posted at the bar that states
what is allowed and what isn’t according to PYC Rules and ABC Rules.
Please take a look
to familiarize yourselves. He passed around
a sign-up sheet for bar duties for the Memorial Day Weekend. Volunteers
are Todts, Wilsons, Swifts, Hoop and Kellers. We need folks in the
morning while our guests shower. They may want a Bloody Mary or something!
Let’s treat our guests with respect and gratitude. Our next bar class
will be a Sat. in April. Date TBD.
CO Report: Please see newsletter for latest report.
Events: (Diane for Diana) – We’ve had a very successful Memorial Day
Weekend meeting and now we have a list of duties. This is the biggest
money making event
of the year and we need your support. A list of
duties was passed around and then posted on the events’ board. What we
mainly need now are volunteers for the meals. Chair people as well. The menu
isn’t difficult and you will be reimbursed for all expenses.
Volunteer shifts are only 3 hours. Gail encouraged the new folks
to get involved. It is a phenomenal weekend. We hosts 60+ boats
with many guests. We are not open to the public. Linda offered to distribute
the weekend outline to everyone via email. St. Patrick’s Day – Reservations
required. Please make your check payable to PYC for $20 and mail in
before the 3/9 deadline. Francesca stated
that she and Diana are working on decorations
and live entertainment. They
are inviting 3 young gals from a local dance
troop, dressed in full Irish regalia,
with a nautical twist, to perform. The cost, $100.
We need items to raffle or cash donations, please. McKenzie pops up
with a $20 bill, followed by Ted, Tom C., Alta, Ellie & Levi! Whoa…Way
to go! That was a quick $120! Thanks to all you generous folks!

We’re planning on a small sailboat race and a blindfolded rowing contest.
Any more ideas, please share with Tom or Linda.

women should dress appropriately. Mac will pay for all on his credit
card. If you
do not show you will be still be charged. Levi will collect your cash or check.
4/14 Corinthian YC – dinner not set up yet.
The Smiths are selling their boats and the club is
now in need of a new cruise chairperson. Mac offered a list of
folks that are ideally suited for the job: Jones, Thomas, Calvert, Todt, Swift,
Roberts, Fricke, Keller, and Mendoza. Tom thanked
Mac for a job well done and suggested there at
least three ways to move forward including: another overall cruise chair
handling all cruise coordination; a cruise
chair that coordinates with individual cruise
chairpersons; or, individual cruise chairpersons without an overall
coordinator. Whichever way we go forward, we are in urgent need of a cruise
chair for several upcoming cruises…especially the Delta.
There is currently nothing in place for the Delta
other than it is scheduled for
Aug 11-26. Tom
contacted Schoonmaker Marina today to expand on our res. July 4.
Membership: Gloria stated no visitors or report today but may have something for
us next month.
Sunshine: No report.
Galley: Suzanne stated – we now have a small garbage can, just outside
the kitchen door, labeled for dirty towels. We also have a new, large
BBQ fork.
Editor: Alta thanked Bette Boots for all
her help in getting the newsletter out on Sunday afternoons. Alta also once
again invited the new members to take advantage of the opportunity to
put their story on the front page. We’d love to get to know you better.
Tom Griffith has signed up for next month but there are plenty of months to
follow. Gloria will be submitting an outline
of the Sponsors’ Job Description in
next month’s newsletter. She also invited new
members to please call her with anything they might like to know and where
they might like to participate. She’d
be happy to assist in any way.
Advertising: No Report.
The Coop: We had about 7-8 designs entered into the T-Shirt contest.
Our 2nd place winner…Pat Fitzgerald for her hand
printed Petaluma Yacht Club (simple but effective). Marshall accepted a
bottle of champagne as her award. 1st place went to Scott
Wilson for his Chicken in Martini whimsical and colorful
design. Sue accepted a bottle of champagne as his award. Keith, the new
purveyor, modeling a new,
short-sleeved windbreaker, displayed t-shirts,
sweatshirts and mugs with these
latest designs. The Coop is expanding. We now have
a Coop-A-Log where you
can order items individually (print or
embroidered). This will help keep down the inventory. Order forms
available. Coffee mugs are dishwater safe. We can take a picture of your
boat and apply to coffee mugs or polyester t-shirts/sweatshirts. You can also
have the name of your boat, or whatever you want, “engraved” on rocks
now available.
Photography: The cover of this month’s newsletter has a fantastic photo of
the
QM2 on the
cover with the PYC flag waving in the foreground. The Swifts and the Roberts
enjoyed a fantastic outing. There are numerous more photos of QM2 on imagestation.com
(Log on PYC2007, Password 2007). Good job Gail. Gorgeous!
PICYA: Marshall sent a letter to Tom C. with notes from the meeting. Tom will
post
on bulletin board. Next meeting will be Monday
3/5. Marshall needs a suit!
Décor:
No report, however at the end
of the meeting Linda asked if anyone knew
who the “Guess Who?” baby photo was. Marty
guessed correctly…Jack Ermey!
Take a look at the board and see if you can guess
who the next baby photo is.
Unfinished Business: Tom informed
Vince M. & Kevin H. about the new Latitude 38 article (page 64 ) and the docks
here at PYC. The City is still looking at bids for the gates. All
improvements have been funded.
By-Laws are being reviewed.
Progress will be posted in the newsletter and the board will be reporting back
to the membership. Steve Hand
asked
why we are reviewing the By-Laws so soon after Diane Parker had them updated
a few years back. Tom stated there are three issues that need
clarification: The process for increasing Membership Dues, Sales of Proprietary
Memberships and Domestic Partnership Memberships. The board will
diligently work on these issues and bring back their findings to the
membership.
New Business:
None
Good of the Club: We had the pleasure of a guest
speaker, Lt. JG Robert
Dickenson, Naval Cadet Corps. His purpose…to
inform us about and to grow the
Sea Cadet
Program. He passed around a pictorial portfolio of many of the young
adults who
have been through courses along with pamphlets for those interested in
signing up
their kids/grandkids, etc. For kids looking for an alternative to the
gang option,
the cadet program will instill the value of discipline, education &
leadership.

them and store open wines in refrig. behind bar.
Meatloaves

lucky
winner(s) to bring home the goods? Low and behold, it was a fight to the bitter
end… Dee was quick to close the deal at $12 while Tina, The

on for
meatloaf #2 – Alas, Hoop went home happy with a delicious meatloaf for
only

Great job Bette! Everyone enjoyed your meatloaf made with so much love!
Yum! And thanks for the gorgeous camellia centerpieces. Everything was perfect!

Time Pasta!!
Tom
G. invited everyone to enjoy a video of our
Delta Cruise ’06 and NYE Party. Hoop mentioned
he’d like to have a Dingy

year. It is a fantastic event. Hopefully the Sea Scouts will taxi a few of us
without dinghies!
Don
reminded everyone to be sure to turn off the
faucets in the restrooms to avoid waste and expense in
having all that heated water go down the drain.
