General Meeting Minutes – January 5, 2007

Meeting called to order: 8:00P by Commodore Tom Corbett. Tom thanked the Brides, Swifts & Thomas’ for the “Best Elvis’s Birthday Party in decades!”  The crew donated the makings and the proceeds for the good of the club…$333.50. Good Job! All enjoyed and appreciated. Elvis Lives!

Guests: No guests.

Minutes:  Alta moved minutes be approved & accepted as published in

December Newsletter. Cathy seconded.

Newsletter: Everyone received their newsletter, Yeah! Alta was once again complimented for a job well done.

Treasurer Report: Charlie stated, accounts in good shape. All is coming along swimmingly. Rich Todt asked if the $50 increase to annual dues for regular members is going into a special Building Improvement Fund. Response was no. Rich moved to establish this special “Building Improvement Fund”, Doug seconded. Discussion followed. Motion died. Decided this was a board issue, will be discussed and brought back to the general membership. Gardner Bride suggested the $50 increase should have been voted on by the general membership. Tom suggested Gardner bring this up at the next board meeting. As a reminder…any issues to be voted on by the general membership need to be agendized first per Roberts’ Rules.

RCO Report: Levi

Club Rentals – No additional rentals since last meeting minutes.

Cruise-ins – Six clubs have scheduled so far this year.

Building & Grounds: A “Work Party” will be scheduled as we have a few items to attend to... (i.e. the backs of the chairs need to be installed).

Alarm System – Please be very careful, as we have had 5 false alarms since Aug. ’06. The contact list with ADT was updated by Levi today. Our responders are: Levi, Tom C., Don & Francesca, complete with their cell numbers.

VCO Report: Don stated the double doors need extra attention. Be sure latches on top and bottom are secure. James (Vanna) demonstrated for us. Reminder…

Sat. 1/20 4P Bar Class w/Tom G. Not just for new members but for all members. When you are in charge of the bar, it is important to do things properly. A little brush up is good for everyone. Let’s make it fun…appetizers and potluck to follow. Another bar class will be scheduled in February for those who could not attend earlier.

Some of our wines are starting to shoot up in price. We will need to address this soon.

Inventory is good. All the bills paid. There is over $4K in the account.

CO Report: Tom requested folks to sign-up for the bar class. Everyone can benefit. He also reminded folks to please pump the wines when closing the bar. This will help to prevent the pouring of sub-quality wine and unnecessary waste. We do have plenty of rubber corks to preserve many bottles of wine.  Tom also mentioned how much fun it is to put on these group meals for our general meetings. It’s a good way to work with people and get to know them better. He also said it would be very helpful if the general membership pitched in with the after-meal cleanup to share in the effort.

Events: Diana thanked everyone for coming to the NYE party. She received a rousing round of applause for a job well done. All the partygoers had a wonderful time and we missed the rest of you but hope you enjoyed your holidays as well.

Cruise-Outs: McKenzie stated we are set for 1/20 SFYC– drive/cruise to dinner.

3/10 St. Francis YC – drive/cruise to dinner.

Membership: Linda presented Steve & Tina Powell with their PYC packet and officially installed them as our newest members to the club. (They were approved 10/19/06 and were unfinished membership business). We look forward to getting to know them better. Gloria presented Carrie Zurney with her new club badge as she was approved as a Domestic Partner w/Tom Griffith in December. Gloria stated she has four applications out there.

Sunshine: Our Sunshine Gal, Lonnie has just had a foot operation. Bente offered to send her our best wishes for a speedy recovery. Thank you Bente.

Galley: (Linda for Suzanne) All is well. If you need anything, “Let me know”.

Editor: Alta thanked everyone for their input. If you have any jokes, odds/ends, etc. please send her way via email/U.S. mail. All is appreciated. The ads look great, crisper. She will insert our newsletter name once again…”Chicken Scratch”… no, make that “Sheet”. Oh wait a minute. Better be careful with that Texas accent of yours Alta!

Advertising: Jim, “who works for Alta”, didn’t realize the job entailed over 300 hours! So to get to the point…Ad Copy and your payment is all we need. Our goal is to make the Chick Sheet a better newsletter and well-designed ads can make a huge difference.

The Coop: Alona thanked the team for the food preparation this evening. Elvis would be proud! Also, please check January newsletter for details on the “Design a T-Shirt” contest and submit your entries to Dee before February 2 general meeting. Mac modeled a blue blazer with a breast patch insignia. Patch will be for sale at the coop if we have enough interest. Costs, $19.95 plus tax. A show of hands, we are close to 20 to get this price. Sign-up sheet to be distributed. The metal pendant that so many of us like is very difficult to order. To make it viable, we need to order a thousand or so. Cost is prohibitive.

Photography: Gail is uploading photos to ImageStation.com and sending photos to Alta for the newsletter. Kathy will change the account ID to “pyc2007” and the password to “2007” for this year’s pix. This should help simplify and organize our numerous photos. Keep ‘um coming.

PICYA: No report.

Décor:  No report.

Unfinished Business: Tom informed Vince M. & Kevin H. about the new Latitude 38 article (page 64 ) and the docks here at PYC. The City is still looking at bids for the gates. All improvements have been funded.

WiFi: We have received some responses. Please send in your questionnaire to Linda via email/U.S. mail or call and leave a message. Rich Todt suggested that the questionnaire should have asked if you wanted the club to make money from the WiFi offering. In addition, he suggested that each member have an individual account. Please include any additional comments you would like to share as well.

Good of the Club: Linda circulated a sign-up sheet for the Vallejo Crab Feed 1/27.

James had something very special to share with Cathy L…Peace Time Pasta!!

Tom G. invited everyone to enjoy a video of our Delta Cruise ’06 and NYE Party. Hoop mentioned he’d like to have a Dingy Dine-Around again this year. It is a fantastic event. Hopefully the Sea Scouts will taxi a few of us without dinghies!

Don reminded everyone to be sure to turn off the faucets in the restrooms to avoid waste and expense in having all that heated water go down the drain.

50/50Dee collected $130 smakeroos! Good Job Dee! And whose the lucky winner walking home with $65?…Keith! I’m telling you, this is one lucky couple!

Adjourned: 9:12P

Respectively Submitted, PYC Secretary – Linda Corbett
